On April 15, 1912, when Titanic started to sink, he was called for help with holding steerage passengers down. He join Steward 3 with some other stewards. Steward 3 eventually ordered unlock gate for Women, while he hold fire axe. When some male passengers try attemp get out, he beats them back, while Steward 3 keep all of them at gunpoint and gate was closed again. Despite Thomas Ryan best efforts Steward 3 not would stand down, so Thomas Ryan looked on him with unapproving look and went down look for another way out.
The Seaman was last seen on Boat Deck, when Collapsible B falling from Officer's Quarters and ended on the deck, overturned.
