Seaman Hawkins is a fictional Seaman of the Titanic in the 2012 Miniseries.
Appearance[]
Hawkins was 5′ 10″ (1.78 m) tall, white male. He had short, dark hair and brown eyes. During his appearances on the show, he wore a cap and standard blue seaman suit.
Biography[]
He is first seen during the lowering of Lifeboat #1, he is first shown as an insubordinate seaman who would rather leave the RMS Titanic along with some of his fellow seaman who want to get into Lifeboat #1. Once Lifeboat #1 is lowered into the ocean, by Lady Duff-Gordon orders to Fifth Officer Lowe lower the lifeboat. Hawkins is stationed at the tiller, as Hugh, Earl of Manton looks over and tries to stop the launch of the lifeboat to allow more people in the boat.
After the Titanic sinks, Hawkins realizing that there are people in the water tells everyone in the boat that they should go back and help them. Sir Cosmo Duff-Gordon and his wife thinks it would be a bad idea saying that their boat will be swamped by the people in the water and that they should wait and see what will happen. Hawkins is now disgusted by their lack of concern reminds them that the people in the water won't last a half an hour in the freezing ocean by the time they do go back. In a desperate plan, Sir Cosmo promises to pay the crewmembers in the lifeboat to make up for their lost clothing. Hawkins realizing that his fellow seamen are accepting the bribe and are no longer in support of returning to the wreck, sits back and watches helplessly to the people in the water still screaming for help.
